We had been looking for a smaller house to live in after tiring from 5 years of condo life. With interest rates being so low and living on interest during retirement, it was important to us to get housing costs totally under control.

There was a search of several months around southern Ontario till we found this brick Regency Cottage nestled in a small town close to the shore of Georgian Bay. Had no intention of moving here but the house called to us when we first saw it online. Drove by later that afternoon and within a few days we had bought the place.

This type of house is a compromise for us between the large modern McMansions made of Ticky Tacky and a Tiny House. We wanted a Tiny House but finding an area where one could build one proved to be difficult to almost impossible. A McMansion is way more house than we wanted.

The house itself was built in 1885 and is only 850 square feet. There was a couple of workshops added in the early 70's. We found these names left in the poured cement floor of the couple who did the additions.

This site is published as a way to document the changes we make to our Regency Cottage over the next few years. The timeline is to be done all of the changes inside and out that we have in mind within 5 years.

There will semi-regular postings of things we are contemplating along with projects as they are being done. Over the winter things will slow down somewhat while we head to warmer climates for a few months.
